“Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
— Jeremiah 29:4-7
The exiled Jews were praying for another Exodus (this time out of Babylon’s grip). God’s response was the words above through the prophet Jeremiah. Instead of deliverance out of a foreign land, God told the exiles to settle down, to seek the peace and prosperity of the city. God was calling them to ENGAGE the world around them (a world that was much different from their own).
That calling remains. God calls us to ENGAGE the world around us. In this series we’ll explore 4 spiritual practices that help us ENGAGE the world and authenticate our own prayer lives.
